Meet Junior League Members

Sunday, September 13, 2009, Sioux City, IA —  Siouxland Dental Health anounced that Dr. Fotene Gennatos, D.D.S., has joined the office. Gennatos will perform all aspects of general dentistry and IV sedation, including restorations, crowns, bridges, veneers and dental surgeries.

As a Sioux City native and North High graduate,Gennatos decided to go into the dental field after closely watching her cousin perform dentistry at a young age. She received her undergraduate and DDS from the University of Iowa in 2004 and completed her residency course in IV conscious sedation in 2008 from the University of Oregon in Portland.

After graduating from the University of Oregon, she came back to Sioux City and worked at the Community Health Center for 2.5 years. She then had the chance to move to Yankton, S.D., and be in private practice where she remained for almost three years.

In addition to dentistry, Gennatos had been part of the Junior League of Sioux City since 2006 and has been a Yankton Rotary member since 2007.

Sunday, August 2, 2009, Sioux City, IAJulie Burhoop, a member of the American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter, has been recognized as a participant in the AIA Iowa Citizen Architect Program by AIA Iowa for her service to the Sioux City community.

Burhoop has logged more than 250 hours during five years as a Junior League of Sioux City volunteer. In 2008, she was appointed a board member at large and has served on the Jungle Nook Project Committee, which has redesigned a child-friendly waiting room at Siouxland District Health Department’s Resource Center. Burhoop will be appointed board secretary for the 2009-2010 term.

The Citizen Architect Program recognizes AIA Iowa members who represent AIA’s values in their community through public service. AIA Iowa, headquartered in Des Moines, is a statewide affiliate of the national AIA.
